What Is Nayi Naveli About?

Directed by Balaji Mohan, Nayyi Navelli blends supernatural folklore with the everyday complications of family life. The story is set in Meerut and centres on Mohini, played by Yami Gautam Dhar, who enters a new household after marriage.

Mohini appears to be the perfect daughter-in-law, and her husband and other family members are fond of her. However, her brother-in-law, Bantu, begins to suspect that something sinister lies beneath her seemingly ordinary personality.

The situation becomes increasingly bizarre when her husband undergoes a monstrous transformation. The mystery is connected to Kaal Sheel, an ancient stone associated with the Treta Yuga.

The film uses this unusual premise to combine mythology, family tensions, supernatural elements and comedy. Its OTT release could appeal to viewers looking for a Hindi horror comedy with a distinctly Indian folklore setting.

The film features Yami Gautam Dhar in the lead role, supported by a cast of familiar performers.

Nayi Naveli Box Office Collection: How Did the Film Open?

Nayyi Navelli opened in theatres on October 16, 2026. According to Sacnilk’s opening-day report, the film collected ₹3.25 crore net in India and recorded a worldwide gross of ₹4.58 crore on its first day.

The opening-day figures placed the film below Yami Gautam’s Article 370, which collected approximately ₹5.90 crore on its opening day, according to the figures cited in contemporary box-office coverage.

The film’s theatrical performance will be one of the factors audiences and industry watchers follow as they wait for its digital premiere. However, its box-office performance does not establish the OTT release date.

Why Is Nayi Naveli’s OTT Release Generating Interest?

The film combines several elements that can attract viewers to a digital release. Yami Gautam’s lead performance, the supernatural mystery, the Meerut setting and the blend of mythology with comedy give it a different identity from a conventional horror film.

Its central question, whether a seemingly ideal family member is hiding a supernatural secret, also provides a straightforward hook for audiences discovering the film through streaming recommendations.

For viewers who missed the theatrical release, an OTT premiere would offer a convenient way to watch the film at home. Until an official date is announced, however, the expected Prime Video release should be treated as a platform update rather than a confirmed streaming schedule.
