Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar has joined the cast of the much-awaited historical epic ‘The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’, where she will portray the legendary warrior queen Belawadi Mallamma.
The film, headlined by Rishab Shetty, who will be seen playing the iconic Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is being mounted on a grand scale. Bhumi’s character, Belawadi Mallamma, was a fearless queen from Karnataka remembered for her bravery, leadership and fighting spirit.
Sharing her excitement about joining the project, Bhumi said that she feels honoured to be part of a film based on the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The actress added that portraying Belawadi Mallamma is a privilege and she looks forward to bringing the warrior queen’s story to the big screen.

Directed and produced by Sandeep Singh, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is planned as a two-part historical saga. The film also features Arjun Rampal and Vivek Oberoi in important roles. The screenplay has been written by Rishi Virmani, while music will be composed by National Award-winning composer Amit Trivedi with lyrics by Prasoon Joshi.
The makers are aiming to create a visually grand cinematic experience showcasing the valour, legacy and historical impact of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film is expected to begin production after completing its extensive pre-production work.
