    Nana Patekar Final Hours: Manipal Hospital Doctor Reveals What Happened Before His Death

    Veteran actor Nana Patekar died at the age of 75 on October 8, 2026, after being found unresponsive at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa. According to Dr Shekhar Salkar of Manipal Hospital, the actor had contacted a friend during the early hours of the morning after feeling unwell. He was subsequently found in a deteriorating condition and emergency medical assistance was called.

    The actor was taken to Manipal Hospital in the early hours of Thursday, where doctors attempted to revive him for around 45 minutes. Despite the medical team’s efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead.

    Nana Patekar’s Final Hours: What Did the Doctor Say?

    Dr Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Department of Oncology at Manipal Hospital, shared details of what happened before Nana Patekar was brought to the hospital.

    According to the doctor, Patekar had messaged a friend at around 2:30 am, saying that he was not feeling well. As it was late at night, the friend did not immediately see the message and subsequently contacted him.

    The friend reached Patekar’s residence at around 4 am. By then, the actor’s condition had worsened and he was reportedly sweating and gradually becoming unconscious.

    The caretaker was sent to arrange an ambulance from Manipal Hospital, which was located nearby. The emergency team then reached Patekar’s residence and began resuscitation efforts after finding him unresponsive.

    Nana Patekar Was Taken to Manipal Hospital

    According to Dr Salkar, Patekar was shifted to Manipal Hospital at approximately 4:20–4:30 am.

    Doctors continued emergency resuscitation efforts after he reached the hospital. The medical team performed cardiac massage and CPR for approximately 45 minutes, but the actor could not be revived. He was declared dead at around 5:20 am, according to reports citing the doctor.

    Dr Salkar said that Patekar was effectively brought to the hospital in an unresponsive state. The doctor also indicated that the hospital could not independently establish the complete circumstances of the death and that the post-mortem examination and police procedure would provide further clarity.

    What Was Nana Patekar’s Cause of Death?

    The preliminary medical information released publicly points to a severe cardiac arrest. However, the exact underlying trigger was not established in the initial medical assessment.

    Reuters reported that Manipal Hospital’s Dr Salkar confirmed cardiac arrest, while noting that the specific trigger remained unclear.

    A medico-legal case (MLC) was registered following the actor’s death, and his body was taken to Goa Medical College for post-mortem examination. The post-mortem process is expected to provide additional information about the circumstances surrounding his death.

    Nana Patekar’s Son Had Shared Details

    Earlier reports said that Nana Patekar’s son, Malhar Patekar, was informed about the actor’s medical emergency. According to information reported by India Today, a medical team was sent to Patekar’s residence after he complained of severe chest pain. He was found unresponsive when the team arrived.

    The actor was subsequently taken to Manipal Hospital, where doctors continued attempts to revive him.

    Nana Patekar’s Last Public Appearance

    Nana Patekar’s last public appearance reportedly came on October 4, 2026, at an installation ceremony in Goa’s Dona Paula, just four days before his death.

    At the event, the veteran actor spoke about life, responsibility and the contributions of former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. His remarks about the uncertainty of life have since drawn attention following his sudden death.

    Nana Patekar’s Illustrious Film Career

    Born Vishwanath Patekar, Nana Patekar established himself as one of the most respected performers in Indian cinema. He began his career in Marathi theatre before moving into films.

    His Hindi film debut came with Gaman in 1978. Over the following decades, he built an acclaimed filmography that included Parinda, Prahaar, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Ab Tak Chhappan, Apaharan, Welcome and Natsamrat, among many others.

    His performances were particularly recognised for their intensity, distinctive dialogue delivery and ability to portray complex characters.

    National Award-Winning Actor

    Patekar was a recipient of multiple major acting honours during his career. His performance in Parinda earned him the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor, while Krantiveer brought him the National Film Award for Best Actor.
