Gauahar wrote that being a man is not about a physical feature. In her view, a man’s identity should instead be reflected in his thinking, attitude and behaviour.

Gauahar’s response went a step further as she questioned Aasif’s statement from a religious perspective. She referred to Islamic teachings while challenging the idea that a moustache should be treated as the defining symbol of manhood.
Her larger point was clear: appearance, according to her, should not be used as the benchmark for judging someone’s masculinity.
