Raveena Tandon Finally Reveals How Her Long-Running Rift With Karisma Kapoor Came to an End

For years, rumours of a fallout between Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor have been part of Bollywood gossip from the 1990s. The two actresses were among the most popular female stars of their generation, but stories about their alleged differences often made headlines, leaving fans wondering what had really happened between them.

The rumours gained fresh attention over the years after choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan spoke about an alleged argument between the two actresses on the sets of Aatish: Feel The Fire. However, Raveena has now offered a much more casual version of how things actually unfolded between her and Karisma.

The actresses recently reunited on Sony TV’s India’s Best Dancer Season 5, where Karisma is a judge and Raveena appeared as a special guest. During the episode, they went down memory lane and spoke about their time together on the 1994 cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna.

    The Rumoured Raveena-Karisma Feud

The alleged tension between Raveena and Karisma has been discussed for decades. In 2007, Farah Khan appeared on Koffee With Karan and recalled an incident involving the two actresses while shooting for Aatish: Feel The Fire.

Farah described it as a childish spat between the actresses and claimed that they had even hit each other with their wigs while shooting a song. The anecdote quickly became one of the stories associated with the supposed Raveena-Karisma rivalry.

Years later, however, Raveena challenged that version of events. During her appearance on Farah’s YouTube channel in May 2025, she questioned the filmmaker about repeatedly mentioning the alleged fight.

Raveena maintained that there was no major fight as such and suggested that the situation had been blown out of proportion. Looking back, she described the dynamics of that time as something similar to “classroom politics” among young actors.

Then Came the ‘Juice Piyegi?’ Moment

While talking about Andaz Apna Apna on India’s Best Dancer Season 5, Raveena revealed a completely different memory involving Karisma.

She recalled that despite working together, she, Karisma, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan did not talk much to one another during the shoot. There was an awkward distance between them, but no dramatic confrontation.

That changed during a night shoot.

As part of a prank, Raveena and Karisma were tied to a pillar while the rest of the team went for dinner. The two actresses were left alone, still waiting to be untied.

With no one else around, Raveena decided to break the silence in the simplest way possible.

    She asked Karisma, “Juice piyegi?”

Karisma replied that she wanted some because she was hungry. That small exchange, according to Raveena, became the beginning of their conversation.

And just like that, what had been an awkward equation slowly began to change — without any dramatic showdown or formal reconciliation.

Andaz Apna Apna Helped Them Find Their Comfort Zone

Karisma also remembered the making of Andaz Apna Apna and how young and nervous the cast was at the time.

She recalled that she, Raveena, Aamir and Salman were all relatively new and were still finding their feet while working with director Rajkumar Santoshi. Shooting the comedy track Yeh Raat Aur Yeh Doorie at Mehboob Studio was one of the experiences that helped the actors become more comfortable with the film and each other.

Karisma also pointed out that performing comedy through a song is not as easy as it looks on screen. Yet the experience eventually became one of the memorable parts of making the cult classic.

From 90s Gossip to Old Friends’ Memories

What makes Raveena and Karisma’s story interesting is how different it sounds from the dramatic version that has circulated for years.

Instead of a major confrontation bringing an end to their awkward phase, it was apparently a simple conversation during a dinner break that helped break the ice.

Today, the two actresses can look back at their 1990s days with much more ease. Their reunion on India’s Best Dancer Season 5 not only brought back memories of Andaz Apna Apna, but also gave fans a glimpse into the story behind one of Bollywood’s most talked-about alleged rivalries.

And perhaps the most unexpected takeaway from it all is that sometimes, a decades-old Bollywood “feud” can begin to disappear with nothing more dramatic than a simple question — “Juice piyegi?”
