Dheeraj Dhoopar Opens Up About Loud Confrontations Inside Reality Show: “I Am Standing Just Two Feet Away From You”

In a recent interview with Mamaraazzi, actor Dheeraj Dhoopar opened up about the intense dynamics inside the reality show and revealed how he often found himself questioning the need for unnecessarily loud conversations and heightened confrontations.

Dhoopar recalled moments when a normal conversation would suddenly turn into a full-blown exchange, leaving him wondering what had just happened. “Jab main aapse ek normal tone mein baat karun, toh achanak hi koi ‘ta-ta-ta,’” he said, describing the sudden shift in volume and intensity.

For Dheeraj, the situation became even more surprising because he had entered the show believing that he was expected to simply be himself. “Jab yeh show maine sign bhi kiya tha aur mujhe bola gaya tha that this is me and they want me to be myself in the show and owning my own truth, and that’s what I did exactly,” he explained.

But being himself also meant speaking naturally—and that, according to Dhoopar, sometimes clashed with the way other contestants operated inside the reality-show environment.

The actor specifically recalled an interaction with Shilpa ji, where he questioned why she was speaking so loudly despite being just a couple of feet away from him. “Why are you speaking that loud? I mean, I am standing just two feet away from you and you are speaking that loud,” Dheeraj recalled.

And rather than matching the volume, Dhoopar came up with his own sarcastic solution. “Aap itni tez bolo, I will go in another room and I can hear you from there. So no need to be in front of each other, right?” he told her.

According to Dheeraj, Shilpa ji understood what he was trying to say.

But there was another layer to the entire situation. Dhoopar believes that contestants who have spent more time in the reality-show space are almost conditioned to operate differently. “They are conditioned that way. They know the reality space well and they are performing accordingly,” he said.

And that observation perhaps explains the larger difference Dheeraj experienced inside the house—while some contestants knew exactly how to navigate the cameras, confrontations and heightened emotions, he was simply trying to remain authentic.

For Dhoopar, the question wasn’t whether reality television needed drama. It was about understanding where genuine emotion ended and performance began. And as his experience inside the house suggests, sometimes even a conversation happening two feet away can sound like it is happening across the entire room.
