Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated Ramayana is set to follow a staggered international release strategy, with the film reaching overseas audiences two days before its theatrical release in India.
Producer Namit Malhotra has confirmed that the Ranbir Kapoor and Yash-led epic will first open in international markets before arriving in Indian theatres. As per the latest reports, Ramayana is scheduled to release internationally on November 6, 2026, while the India release is planned for November 8, 2026.
The release strategy reflects the makers’ ambition to position Ramayana as a global Indian cinematic event. Malhotra has previously spoken about his vision of taking the epic to audiences worldwide, and the film’s international rollout is expected to be a major part of its theatrical campaign.
The film has already generated considerable buzz in overseas markets following its international promotional push, including its presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. The makers have been positioning Ramayana on a global scale, with Sony Pictures Entertainment involved in its international distribution strategy.
Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, with Sunny Deol portraying Lord Hanuman. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is being mounted as a two-part epic and is among the most ambitious Indian productions currently in the works.
With the overseas release arriving two days ahead of the India premiere, Ramayana is clearly aiming to establish a strong international footprint before its domestic theatrical opening.
