Emraan Hashmi Returns as Shivam Pandit
One of the biggest attractions of Awarapan 2 is Emraan Hashmi’s return as Shivam Pandit, a character that has remained memorable among fans of the original film.
The 2007 Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri, introduced audiences to Shivam, a troubled hitman whose life changes after he develops feelings for Reema, a woman held captive by the gangster Malik. His decision to help her escape transforms his journey into a story of love, sacrifice and tragedy.
Although the original film did not perform strongly at the box office when it was first released, it gradually developed a dedicated fan following.
Its music, emotional storyline and Hashmi’s performance helped establish a lasting connection with audiences.
Nearly two decades later, the sequel brings Shivam back to the screen, allowing viewers to reconnect with the character and discover the next chapter of his life.
What Is Awarapan 2 About?
Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 continues Shivam Pandit’s story while exploring themes of grief, guilt, love and redemption.
The sequel finds Shivam in a remote village in Rajasthan, where he is struggling with the emotional weight of his past and mourning at his lover Aaliyah’s grave. Having withdrawn from the criminal world, he appears to have accepted a life of solitude.
However, an unexpected connection offers him a glimpse of hope. His circumstances soon change, drawing him back into a dangerous world connected to Bangkok’s criminal underworld.
As Shivam becomes involved in a new conflict, he must confront the consequences of his past and navigate another difficult chapter of his life.
The narrative combines romantic drama with action and emotional conflict, continuing the franchise’s focus on a troubled protagonist searching for meaning.
Awarapan 2 Box Office Collection: ₹213 Crore Worldwide
Awarapan 2 recorded a reported worldwide gross of ₹213.01 crore during its theatrical run, according to Sacnilk figures cited by The Economic Times and other entertainment publications.
The film’s reported India net collection stands at approximately ₹150.59 crore.
These figures have positioned the sequel as a major commercial performer and a significant development for a franchise whose original instalment gained popularity gradually after its release.
The difference between India net and worldwide gross is important: India net excludes applicable taxes, while worldwide gross includes gross collections across domestic and overseas markets.
The film’s theatrical performance also helped renew interest in the original Awarapan, particularly among viewers who remember its soundtrack and Shivam’s tragic story.
Awarapan 2 Cast: Who Stars Alongside Emraan Hashmi?
The sequel features an ensemble cast led by Emraan Hashmi.
Emraan Hashmi as Shivam Pandit: Hashmi reprises his role as the troubled protagonist, bringing the character back nearly two decades after the original film.
Disha Patani: Patani appears in a key role in the romantic action drama, adding another dimension to the film’s emotional storyline.
Shabana Azmi: The veteran actor is also part of the cast, contributing to the film’s ensemble.
