Fire Breaks Out Near Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s Ramayana Set; No Injuries Reported

A fire broke out at a temporary shooting structure in Mumbai’s Goregaon Film City on Monday, October 5, 2026, triggering concern because of its proximity to the sets associated with Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire was brought under control within an hour.

Fire Reported at Mumbai’s Film City

The incident took place at around 4:02 pm at a temporary structure behind Prime Focus Studio in Goregaon East. The Mumbai Fire Brigade classified it as a Level-I fire and brought the blaze under control by approximately 4:55 pm.

According to reports, the fire affected electrical wiring, cables, fittings, wooden planks, bamboo, plastic materials, air-conditioning units, sound equipment and other shooting-related material at the temporary structure. There were no reports of injuries.

Was the Ramayana Set Actually Damaged?

There has been some confusion over whether the fire occurred directly on the main Ramayana set.

While several reports initially described the incident as a fire on or near the film’s set, a report citing the Ramayana team said the blaze did not occur on the film’s actual shooting set. The fire was reportedly in a tent outside the studio premises.

FWICE president B N Tiwari also described the incident as minor and said it was contained before it could spread further.

    No Injuries Reported

The biggest relief following the incident was that no cast or crew members were reported injured.

The fire reportedly created panic at the location as smoke rose from the temporary structure. Emergency teams responded quickly, preventing the blaze from spreading further.

According to reports, filming resumed after the situation was brought under control.

    FWICE Raises Safety Concerns

The incident has also renewed conversations about fire safety on film and television sets.

FWICE president B N Tiwari said producers had previously been advised to ensure proper safety arrangements following another fire incident at a nearby location. He described the latest incident as a warning for production teams to exercise greater caution.

Large entertainment productions involve temporary structures, electrical installations, lighting equipment, cables and other materials. Safety precautions are therefore particularly important at shooting locations.

Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s Ramayana

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is one of the most anticipated Indian films currently in production. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi portrays Goddess Sita. Yash plays Ravana and Sunny Deol portrays Lord Hanuman.

The film is planned as a two-part epic and has been mounted on a large scale with extensive visual effects.

The first instalment is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, 2026, according to recent reports.

Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 and Hustle Also Shooting Nearby

The Film City location is also being used for television productions, including Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 and MTV Hustle.

Reports about the fire have therefore referred to several productions operating in the same vicinity. However, the available reports indicate that there were no casualties.

The incident comes shortly after another fire-related development at Film City, making safety arrangements at temporary production locations an important topic for the entertainment industry.

    What Happened After the Fire?

The fire was brought under control without reported injuries, and production activity reportedly resumed once the situation was contained.

At present, there is no indication that the incident has affected the scheduled release of Ramayana. The film remains slated for its November 2026 theatrical release.

For now, the incident appears to have caused limited disruption, but it has highlighted the importance of maintaining strict safety measures at large shooting locations.
