Hollywood’s biggest night delivered drama, history, and unforgettable moments as the curtains closed on the 2026 awards season at the prestigious 98th Academy Awards.
After months of intense competition across the Golden Globe Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, and BAFTA Awards, the final results proved that this year’s Oscar race was one of the most unpredictable in recent memory.
While several films entered the night with strong momentum, it was One Battle After Another that ultimately dominated the ceremony, emerging as the biggest winner of the night with six Oscars, including the prestigious Best Picture award.
A Record-Breaking Night
One of the most talked-about films heading into the ceremony was Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler.
The film created history even before the ceremony began by receiving 16 nominations, the highest ever for a single film in Oscar history, surpassing legendary films like All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land, which previously held the record with 14 nominations each.
However, despite leading the nominations tally, the film faced stiff competition from Paul Thomas Anderson’s political thriller One Battle After Another, which had built strong momentum during the awards season.
