Richard Gere, a famous actor from Hollywood, was one of the many people present for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commemoration of the 9th International Yoga Day on Wednesday at the UN headquarters in New York.
Gere spoke to ANI before the event and said, “He (PM Modi) is a product of Indian culture and comes from a vast place as Indian culture does. This sense of universal brotherhood and sisterhood is the message we want to hear again and again.” In videos and photos shared from the event, Gere can be seen following Modi’s lead as he practices some asanas. There were photos of Richard Gere and PM Mod hugging each other at the event as well. As per reports, the event created a Guinness World Record for participation of people of most nationalities in a yoga session.
