Johnny Depp to donate $1 million settlement money from ex- wife Amber Heard to 5 charities

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s much talked about divorce has finally reached its end. With Heard paying the settlement money, their Virginia defamation case has finally come to an end after a year.
The widely publicised defamation case involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has been resolved because the Aquaman actor has now made the $1 million payment to her ex-husband as instructed by the Virginia court. The jury had initially given Depp $10 million in compensatory damages, $5 million in punitive penalties, and $2 million in compensatory damages to Ms. Heard in June of last year. However, in December, the ex-couple reached a deal, and Heard agreed to pay the Pirates of the Caribbean actor $1 million in damages. According to People Magazine, Depp has made the decision to donate the entire settlement sum to five charities.
The 60-year-old actor will donate $200,000 each to five charities, which includes Make-A-Film Foundation, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Tetiaroa Society and Amazonia Fund Alliance.
After deciding to settle in December 2022, Amber Heard said that it was “very difficult decision” and “not an act of concession”. She took to Instagram and wrote, “It’s important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth, in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed. The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways women are re-victimized when they come forward.”
