Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s Kennedy starring Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat in the lead roles will be part of the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival. The festival’s organisers on Thursday revealed the film will be showcased under the Midnight Screenings section. Film distributor Iris Knobloch and Thierry Fremaux, director of the Cannes Film Festival announced this year’s entries in a press conference at Cannes.
The Film Festival also shared the announcement on its official Twitter page, Festival de Cannes, and wrote, “KENNEDY by Anurag KASHYAP #SéanceDeMinuit / #MidnightScreenings #Cannes2023.”
Other than Kashyap’s film, Elias Belkeddar’s Omar la Fraise and Just Philippot’s Acide will also be screened in the Midnight Screenings section.
The Dobaaraa director returns with a presentation at the film festival after showcasing Gangs of Wasseypur at the 2012 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight section at the Cannes Film Festival. His Anthology film Bombay Talkies premiered under Special Screenings in 2013.
At the 2013’s Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, Kashyap screened Ugly and received a standing ovation. In 2016, he returned with Raman Raghav 2.0 at the Director’s Fortnight section.
