At the 2023 Golden Globe Awards, MM Keeravaani’s Naatu Naatu won the top prize, defeating Grammy winners Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga. Along with music from Where the Crawdads Sing, Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro, Top Gun: Maverick, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the Telugu song from RRR was nominated. At the 80th Golden Globe Awards, Rihanna and boyfriend A$AP Rocky attended. They were nominated alongside director Ryan Coogler and composer Ludwig Göransson for their work on the film Black Panther. She personally thanked the RRR team on their historic victory when the award was announced.
The musician was spotted passing the RRR table at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles in a paparazzi Instagram video. Rihanna turned to face director SS Rajamouli and the rest of the RRR crew while donning a black gown, velvet gloves, and a wrap shawl, and kissed them all. The majority of the crew, along with their families, were observed videotaping the conversation. Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga were absent from the ceremony.
