Early on Friday morning, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was involved in an accident near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, and sustained injuries after his car collided with a road divider and afterwards caught fire. The incident happened as Pant, who is allegedly not in danger, was travelling from Delhi to his birthplace of Roorkee.
Pant was initially admitted to a private institution in Roorkee before being recommended to a hospital in Dehradun. According to police sources, he apparently suffered head injuries as well as a ligament lesion to his right ankle.
Pant’s car was involved in an accident at 5.30 am in the Haridwar district, close to Mohammadpur Jat, in the vicinity of the Mangalore police station. He was quickly transported by the 108 ambulance and neighbourhood cops to Saksham Hospital in Roorkee. He was then directed to Dehradun from there.
When the incident happened at around 5.30 am, Pant was the only driver of the car, according to police sources. Sources claim that Pant lost control of the car, slammed against the barrier, and was then thrown out of the windscreen as a result of the incident. The car caught fire and was entirely burned out in a matter of seconds. The firefighters extinguished the fire as soon as they arrived.
“After receiving information from the officials regarding cricketer Rishabh Pant’s injuries sustained in a car accident, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed the officers to make all necessary arrangements for the sportsman’s medical care. The state government will cover all costs of the treatment, the chief minister declared, while wishing him a swift recovery. If necessary, an air ambulance will also be available, according to the state government’s statement.
“I’m wishing Rishabh Pant well. He is thankfully no longer in danger. I’d like to wish @RishabhPant17 a quick recovery. VVS Laxman, a former Indian cricketer, tweeted, “Get well soon Champ.” Harsha Bhogle, an Indian journalist and cricket commentator, remarked that he was thinking about Rishabh Pant this morning and sincerely hoped he was okay and would soon make a full recovery.
