On a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) platform, he was elected to the 11th Lok Sabha from Machilipatnam, but he left politics in 1998. After a brief illness, veteran Tollywood actor and former lawmaker Kaikala Satyanarayana passed away early on Friday at his Jubilee Hills home in Hyderabad, according to family members. His wife, son, and two daughters all predeceased him at the age of 87.
Satyanarayana’s final rituals will be conducted in the Mahaprasthanam cremation in Jubilee Hills on Saturday, according to family members.
Over 750 films were produced during Satyanarayana’s six-decade acting career.
A close ally of renowned actor and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister NT Rama Rao, Satyanarayana also had a brief career in politics.
He won various honours, including the 2011 Raghupati Venkaiah Award, the 2017 Telugu Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Nandi Film Awards from the state of Andhra Pradesh.
