Jigra is one of the most anticipated films of 2024, and the buzz surrounding it has only intensified since the announcement of the trailer dropping tomorrow. Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role, with Vedang Raina playing her brother. We got an early sneak peek into the trailer before it goes live globally tomorrow. Here is what we felt about it….
The trailer stars with an intense call where Alia’s character a call from her brother (Vedang) who has been caught by the local police. Her desperation lies evident in the instructions she gives to her on a streak which she portrays like a fine actor she is!
Jigra throws light on a strong bond between a sister and a brother but unlike other traditional sister-brother relationships, here the sister emerges as the savior right from childhood where she is shown saving him from bullying at school. What works here in the trailer is the desperation of a sister who is ready to go to any extent and miles to save his innocent brother.
Not to forget, the character of Vedang and what he goes through in the jail makes an impact and the actor looks ready to portray an author-backed role which doesn\’t do much the talking but expresses more through his eyes and pain.
The trailer ends with a dialogue, ‘Main insaan buri nahi hun, main bas Ankur ki behan hun’. This dialogue from Alia’s character just tells how nothing else matters for her other than her brother’s safety even if it puts her in danger or makes her a criminal. The uneasiness and desperation of a sibling trying to safeguard the other sibling has been translated to the T.
Vasan Bala’s fans would be rejoiced as we can see his sense of color gradients, aesthetics and how he creates an entirely different world for his characters. The trailer drops tomorrow worldwide. The film is presented by Viacom18 Studios, Dharma Productions, and Eternal Sunshine Productions, and produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt, and Somen Mishra. Jigra is set to hit theaters on October 11, 2024.
