Warner Bros. Pictures presents a new experience in the world of M. Night Shyamalan’s “Trap” featuring performances by rising music star Saleka Shyamalan.
A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event. Written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, “Trap” stars Josh Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills and Allison Pill.
Talking about the rising star and his co actor Salekha, Hartnett says, “Saleka is an extraordinarily talented human being who has had, except outside of Night, probably the most to do on this film. She wrote and recorded an album, and then learned all of the choreography for the stage performance. Basically, she had to go on tour. She also had to create a character. None of this is from her perspective, and what she’s also doing with the music is sound-tracking my character’s interactions and the way he’s understanding what’s happening to him. All of the songs—which are amazing in their own right—have to do with what Cooper is going through in the course of the film. They don’t sound overt or cheesy, and you don’t quite get it at first. It’s not in your face. It’s a remarkable achievement. She’s done all of that, and it’s her first film, plus she’s being directed by Night. I think that’s a Herculean effort that she’s put in and it’s an inspiration.”
